The Product Manager functions as the key business leader to increase the sales, profitability, and market share of the assigned portfolio. The Product Manager will interface with existing and new customers to fully satisfy their needs and will bring additional user knowledge to the organization. The role will also partner with internal resources e.g. Finance, Engineering, Quality to streamline the organization towards customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties
- Develop and execute product strategies to drive business growth
- Using personal industry knowledge and contacts to expand company's sales in defined market
- Solve customer problems through interface with technical service, production, quality assurance, account management and customer service
- Coordinate with Sales Director(s) to establish sales territories, sales forecasts, quotes, quotas, incentives, methods and goals, and advise dealers, distributors, and clients concerning sales and marketing techniques
- Maintain sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors
- Research, analyze and monitor financial, technological and competitive factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on, and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized
- Review business results, ensure customer satisfaction, develop strategies for growth and formulate tactics to expand business opportunities
- Develop and maintain the overall marketing communications strategy for all products and/or services including suggestions for trade shows, conferences, advertising, product information, etc.
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of company's technical expertise. Provide technical advice at customers' sites
- Analyze and suggest new market segments for company based upon analysis of company capabilities and market segment requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Material Science, Engineering or another technical field
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years explicit product management experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information of a technical nature
- Ideally background in Coatings
- Experience in coaching and training team members without formal leadership responsibility (only technically)
- Demonstrated ability to work with international teams.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess account profitability and pricing strategy.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and relation-building skills.
