Organization/Team Mission

Mercari is working to create a brand new marketplace experience by launching a commerce platform that leverages real-time communication. Our goal is to contribute to Mercari's mission by providing new value to our users through our commerce business.

The market has huge potential, and this business has the potential to grow and become a significant pillar of Mercari Group. To capture this opportunity, we are leveraging the Group's assets toward developing this new business.

Work Responsibilities

• Product strategy and new feature planning / Development roadmap / Specification documentation
• Product delivery and outcome generation while collaborating with various roles
• Leading autonomous product teams involving engineers and designers,project management
• Alignment and negotiation with related departments

Unique Challenges

• This business directly connects to Mercari Group's mission: "Create value in a global marketplace where anyone can buy & sell."
• As a new business team, cross-functional roles are required for business launch.
• This is an extremely challenging environment where you can be involved in launching a new business based on the massive assets of "Mercari," Japan's largest flea market app.

Qualifications

• Required Experience/Skills
• Ability to empathize with the mission and values of Mercari Group and each company
• 3+ years of product management experience in the mobile app market
• Basic knowledge of software development (including agile development methodologies) and experience leading autonomous engineering teams
• Experience improving products through collaboration with UX designers
• Preferred Experience/Skills
• Marketplace/e-commerce experience: Experience in C2C or B2C marketplaces, from establishing their foundation (including trust and safety) through to growth.
• High Engaged Customer Interactivity: Product experience with synchronous user experiences or platforms that require immediate feedback loops (e.g. real-time gaming, live commerce, or instant chat).
• Community Engagement: Proven ability to build features that connect buyers and sellers in active, high-engagement environments.
• New business launch experience: Experience navigating the ambiguity of "Zero-to-One" product development
• Language
• Japanese: Proficient (CEFR - C1)
• English:Independent (CEFR - B2)Preferred
