Description
Bernheim Forest and Arboretum, a 16,000+ acre protected forest in Kentucky, about 25 miles south of Louisville, is seeking a knowledgeable individual to play an integral role in the distribution of content across Bernheim’s digital footprint.
Bernheim is home to a 600-acre, Level IV accredited arboretum. The natural landscape features 40+ miles of hiking trails and extensive natural areas managed for conservation and research purposes. Its woodlands, prairies, and wetlands make up the largest privately-owned forest in the Eastern United States dedicated to education and conservation. Bernheim is a privately owned not-for-profit, relying on donations and memberships, whose mission is to connect people with nature. Annually, over 300,000 people experience Bernheim through visits, educational programs, field trips, and Bernheim festivals.
The Digital Marketing Coordinator is responsible for managing digital communications efforts and supporting the overall communications strategy to convey Bernheim’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. This position provides support for Bernheim’s earned and owned communications that attract and engage audiences and heighten brand reputation.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Create and publish content across digital marketing channels, including social media, e-newsletters, and Bernheim website.
- Collaborates with departments to ensure timely distribution of weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly e-newsletters.
- Keep content fresh, relevant, and focused on increasing awareness of Bernheim’s mission of connecting people with nature through various departmental efforts.
- Assist in advancing Bernheim’s communications strategy through social media, visual storytelling, and graphics design activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and Communications to create and maintain social media and e-newsletter publishing calendar.
- Assist the Graphic Design Manager in creating on-site signage, marketing graphics, and more.
- Publish and update programs on the Bernheim website, ensuring descriptions and registration links are accurate.
- Collaborates with departments on content and manages requested website updates
- Assist with photo/video production and editing.
- Assists with tracking analytics and reporting key performance metrics
- Assist in the management of Bernheim’s general information email box and directing emails to appropriate individuals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

This full-time, hourly position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Salary Range: $19-$22/hr.

Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, and/or related field or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.
- Creative content development and a fundamental understanding of how to tell a compelling story to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to stay current with best practices and evolving trends in social media and visual storytelling required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, website management, and social media platforms; knowledge of WordPress and/or Hootsuite a plus.
- Experience creating web graphics in Adobe Illustrator and working with photos in Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop.
- Knowledge of creating video content from camera through editing to web publishing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational skills
- Must have a positive attitude, great people skills, excellent time management, and organizational skills.
- Work requires some physical activity: walking over all types of terrain, in various weather conditions; carrying or transporting light equipment.
- Position requires some weekend, evening, and/or early morning hours.
