Position Summary
The Communications Specialist will work closely with leaders throughout the company, the Communications team and PSA marketing to develop story ideas, features, campaigns and communications plans to support the company's business objectives. They will provide an impact to PSA by engaging team members through a variety of tactics including newsletters, the employee intranet site and other employee-specific communications tools.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the strategy and execution of communications initiatives for operational team members.
- Serve as the communications subject matter expert with departmental leadership.
- Support the development and implementation of creative communication strategies and tactics to reach a diverse range of audiences across a variety of tactics.
- Establish strong relationships with department leadership to foster trust and communications counsel expertise.
- Report on engaging opportunities where team members get involved in the community.
- Draft letters and talking points for leaders as needed, adapting tone easily.
- Use data and analytics on internal messaging consumption and make recommendations and decisions regarding communications strategies and plans.
- Drive management, content development and support publication of newsletters and postings to employee intranet site.
- Be accountable for supporting the successful development of strategies as well as tactical execution of communication plans in a fast-paced, constantly changing, multi-faceted environment, working alongside the Director.
- Identify and develop stories from around the airline that support the company's vision, culture and brand and easily adapt tone for writing across both internal and external channels.
- Participate in corporate meetings to discuss communications strategies and develop talking points for executives and senior leaders.
- Coordinate agendas and materials for town hall meetings and other team member leadership meetings.
- Develop press releases and statements for media and nurture media relationships and drive awareness of PSA activities in the public relations community.
- Serve as back-up to the Manager of Communications for Crisis Communications events and initiatives.
- Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4-6 years of experience in communications or journalism.
- Experience writing and developing content for internal communication activities.
- Experience managing multiple projects.
- Ability to speak/read/write in English.
- If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or public relations.
Additional Information
Supervisory Responsibility: This position is not a supervisory role
Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Manager of Communications.
Authorities: None.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; lift weight up to 25 lbs; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Security Clearance: All employees are required to pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209 as well as a pre-employment drug screen.
