The University of Connecticut is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director of Marketing. This individual will assist in developing and implementing strategies to maximize marketing and promotional efforts to build attendance, generate ticket sales revenue and optimize the fan experience and engagement for UConn Athletics. Responsibilities include: develops and/or contributes to preparation of marketing and promotional plans for select sports; develops and/or contributes to preparation of gameday presentation and fan experience efforts for select sports (public address scripts, coordination of video board content, in-venue music, sponsorship activation activities, time-out promotions, coordination with band, cheerleaders and dance team); assist in planning marketing strategies and promotional campaigns designed to engage various stakeholders and audiences and generate ticket sales; designs, produces and schedules sales and promotional assets specific to target audience segments; works closely with other departmental units, such as Video, Communications, Tickets and Operations, to effectively execute promotions and other game day activities; recruits, trains and supervises student workers as necessary to carry out promotional activities or other needs within the Marketing unit; assists with digital media marketing efforts including social media content creation and distribution; performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Marketing and Fan Engagement.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field; two years’ experience in sports marketing; ability to produce creative graphics necessary to produce promotional materials; demonstrated knowledge of applicable NCAA regulations; outstanding organizational skills including ability to handle multiple projects; ability to work independently, think strategically and creatively with minimal supervision, adjust to changing circumstances, organize time efficiently and remain attentive to details; and willingness to work flexible and irregular hours.
Preferred Qualifications: minimum one-to-two years of marketing experience in an NCAA Division I collegiate athletic department; direct marketing oversight of NCAA Division I sports; proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite.
