St. Lawrence University invites applications for an Assistant Director of Marketing and Content Strategy position. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Content Strategy, the Assistant Director will be one of St. Lawrence’s lead creative storytellers responsible for advancing the national visibility of the University in the marketplace. The position will be responsible for developing compelling and motivating written content for the University’s website, promotional materials, and integrated marketing campaigns. The person will be a creative and strategic thinker who can amplify the impact of the content they are developing by finding new, strategic ways to maximize the use of what they create.
Primary duties include but are not limited to the following:
Research, write and edit feature stories
Serve as the lead admissions content liaison and content developer for all printed and many digital enrollment communications
Assist in the creation of innovative and compelling marketing campaigns that will drive enrollment
Generate story ideas for University channels that align the University’s personality and messaging platform with the needs of Admissions, Advancement, and other departments.
Collaborate with Communications colleagues and campus partners to take projects from concept to completion on time
Assist the Director of Marketing and Content Strategy with conducting competitive brand research and analysis

Bachelor’s degree; English, communications, journalism, marketing, history, or other writing-intensive field is preferred
1-3 years of related work experience
Excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills, including experience with and knowledge of feature writing, writing for marketing purposes and writing for print and digital mediums
Proven skills in creativity, analysis, and problem solving, and the ability to evaluate, synthesize, and incorporate ideas and feedback from multiple stakeholders; ability to synthesize complex ideas and concepts into compelling writing
Ability to work independently as well as within a team to meet deadlines
Possess the cross-cultural abilities to build relationships and work effectively with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members
Design, photography, and quick video creation experience
Familiarity with higher education or a nonprofit setting
