The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a hands-on, data-driven, digital-savvy marketing strategist who is able to connect the dots and drive an enterprise-level approach to strategic marketing and industry-leading marketing campaigns, define/push our messaging, develop compelling marketing content and collateral and optimize audience journeys for leads, conversion and revenue—and stand out as a respected, fun and go-to member of our team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Lead and manage the planning, coordination and implementation of marketing campaigns, including the NAM’s overall brand marketing strategy, to foster increased awareness, understanding and support for the NAM’s mission, vision, accomplishments, products, services and meetings among internal and external stakeholders.
Draft marketing campaigns—spanning all paid, earned, owned and social channels—for the NAM and the NAM’s key initiatives to increase the visibility, outreach and reputation of the NAM.
Provide counsel to the Vice President of Brand Strategy and collaborate on building a best-in-class marketing strategy operation.
Work closely with other NAM divisions and team members, including in sales and membership, The Manufacturing Institute, legal, business operations, advocacy and government relations, to build marketing plans that help them advance their strategic priorities.
Lead internal socialization of strategic marketing plans across the organization to empower team members at all levels of the association to be marketers for the NAM.
Work with other leaders to ensure marketing campaigns are rolled out on time and on budget.
Help team members trouble-shoot marketing challenges.
Lead and mentor a small team, and outside consultants and agencies, to build a team-based culture and motivational spirit.
Allocate and assign tasks to the Marketing Strategy team and outside consultants and vendors.
Obtain results/metrics on marketing campaigns through staff and other resources for measurement and success of programs; tracking analysis and interpretation of trends.
Report out on marketing campaigns and socialize results/metrics reports with team members.
Ensure the highest level of quality and that commitments and goals are met.
Find creative solutions to marketing needs that can be accomplished within a budget and timeline.
Identify and bring best practices for marketing strategy to the NAM.
Display agility in balancing short-notice requests with longer-term projects. Meet stringent deadlines.
Understand nuance of tone and objectives for all written communications.
Familiar with a variety of traditional and new media platforms.
Thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED AND THE NATURE OF THE SUPERVISION): Supervision of two employees, including a marketing strategy manager and email marketing specialist.
Guide team members in development and management of their performance achievement plans.
Establish marketing plans with the team and other stakeholders and internal and external talent tied to the NAM’s business goals and be held accountable for meeting these goals.
Establish clear channels of communication.
Build an agile, highly productive and engaged team, nurturing and developing talent through strong and actively engaged leadership.
Be a model in action of the NAM values, and promote these values with the team.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
5-10+ years of brand and/or marketing strategy and leadership experience (title will depend on years of experience).
Experience developing and executing marketing plans.
Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates, as well as getting cooperation and results from vendors, colleagues, and other staff members.
Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research.
Solid understanding of contemporary approaches to brand stewardship.
Experience with content management systems, marketing software, email marketing platforms and prospecting platforms.
Knowledge of both traditional, digital and event marketing and advertising best practices, and an eagerness to stay abreast of new technologies in this regard.
Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to individuals and/or groups at all levels of an organization.
Strong interpersonal skills—i.e., the ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organization levels.
Exceptional analytical, communication (both written and spoken) and presentation skills with the ability operate with energy and flexibility.
Experience that demonstrates excellent proofing and editing skills.
Self-starter with strong time management, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-profile relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Can manage stressful situations in a solutions-oriented way with a positive attitude.
Functions effectively, both independently and as a member of a team, with a willingness to assist with routine and last-minute projects.
Agency or consulting experience is preferred.
Significant experience preparing a variety of written materials of varying topics and styles and for diverse audiences.
Basic knowledge of design, layout and publishing principles.
