The Compressed Gas Association, Inc. (CGA) is seeking a marketing and communications specialist to join our small and dynamic team. This newly created position provides vision, leadership, and implementation of strategic communications, public relations, marketing and brand management, and social media. The position is charged with planning, executing, and monitoring the communication and marketing plans in alignment with CGA’s strategic direction.
Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing & Communication:
Creates and implements strategic communication plans in the areas of public awareness; national, local, and trade media relations; external stakeholder relations; and social media to position CGA as a leading technical authority on industry safety issues and enhance the visibility, perception, and reputation of the Association and the industry.
Develops and coordinates the promotion of CGA programs, products, services, and events to members, target markets, and key stakeholders through clear and consistent communications and marketing to support strategic goals.
Writes, edits, and manages content for outgoing communications including newsletters, blog posts, videos, news stories, membership recruiting materials, sponsorship brochures, e-mail campaigns, articles for external media sources, presentations, and other collateral as required.
Generates a compelling value proposition for CGA’s programs and events to drive branding and messaging.
Identifies and employs new communication tactics, marketing products, engagement tools, and distribution channels to improve delivery and recognition.
Works with CGA staff to continue development of eLearning program, including identification and prioritization of future topics, development of content, and acquisition of industry images.
Continually updates content on CGA’s public website, www.cganet.com.
Conducts member surveys and market research to determine customer satisfaction and needs, and uses results to evaluate marketing strategies and measure effectiveness.
Establishes and adheres to budgets, timelines, and work plans to ensure marketing efforts support internal objectives, stay on track, and meet or exceed revenue targets.
Formulates and executes a comprehensive marketing and branding plan to increase membership and ensure continued growth of the Association by engaging prospective members and new markets.
Communicates directly with members to maintain relationships, establish CGA’s value proposition, and increase retention.
Develops and oversees member benefit programs for constituent groups such as young professionals, committee leaders, members emeritus, etc.
Actively participates in industry events, networking receptions, conventions, programs, training sessions, and other events and meetings as needed to recruit new members.
Plans and manages logistics of CGA annual meetings, seminars, webinars, and other major events. This includes RFPs, venue selection, contract negotiations, food and beverage selection, A/V, vendor selection and management, planning and marketing timelines, and working with committee staff and/or members to develop programs, marketing materials, and communications.
Manages event registration, on site badge/packet/material distribution, speaker orientation, coordination and communication with hotel staff, and other support functions during major events.
Develops, distributes, and analyzes surveys on annual meeting and develops suggestions for improvements based on member and staff feedback.
Prepares registration confirmation notices, event guide, electronic communications, membership brochures, banners and signage, and other materials as needed.
5+ years of proven success in marketing communications, including the development and implementation of multi-year tactical campaigns for marketing, brand management, and strategic communication. Background in nonprofit membership organizations and/or associations is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
Previous experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and website maintenance is required. Experience with Google Analytics and email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact) is preferred. Experience with mobile event apps (e.g., Guidebook), online survey tools (e.g., Survey Monkey), and/or Learning Management Systems is a plus.
Periodic travel up to 15% is required.
Additional Salary Information: Annual salary of $80,000 - $90,000 contingent on experience.
