Job description:
The Social Media Manager will lead the campaign’s day-to-day social media presence,
create and manage digital content, and help shape Mayor Mahan’s online voice across
platforms.
Responsibilities:
The Social Media Manager has the following responsibilities and duties:
Plan, create, and publish content across the campaign’s social media channels,
including rapid-response, and evergreen posts.
Capture, coordinate, and quickly turn around photo/video content at campaign
events, press moments, and field stops.
Draft and edit platform-specific copy, graphics briefs, captions, scripts, and
posting calendars.
Travel with Mayor Mahan as needed to support real-time content creation and
coverage, including direct-to-camera, across California.
Collaborate with communications, policy, political, field, and fundraising teams to
execute the overarching campaign plan.
Requirements:
The Social Media Manager should have the following skills, attributes, and experience:
At least one cycle in a digital, social media, or communications role on a federal,
statewide, or major local campaign.
Knowledge of California and national politics, with strong instincts for message
discipline and rapid response.
Exceptional writing, video/photo editing, visual judgment, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with major social platforms and familiarity with basic design/video
editing tools; willingness to create content quickly and often.
Willingness to commit fully to the demands of a high-intensity statewide race,
working nights, weekends, and holidays.
Candidates with proficiency in Spanish and experience growing political or
advocacy social accounts are preferred.
Compensation: $8,000-$11,000/month. This is an at will position, and does not extend past the
end of the campaign. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and
weekends frequently.
