About the Role
Northern Trust is looking for a strategic and hands-on Product Manager to take ownership of critical business applications during high-impact incidents.
In this individual contributor role, you won't just manage products-you'll lead the charge in ensuring operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and governance excellence across the enterprise.
As the Product Owner, you'll be the go-to leader during incidents-driving rapid response, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and making decisions that protect our business and clients. You'll also shape how access governance and control structures are designed and executed to stay ahead of risk and audit expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Incident Product Ownership: Lead business-side ownership of critical applications during incidents. Coordinate impact assessment, recovery prioritization, and status communication.
- Access Governance: Conduct periodic access reviews to ensure alignment with roles and regulatory standards. Maintain access structures that reduce risk.
- Governance Execution: Support governance models defining ownership roles, escalation paths, and control responsibilities. Keep ownership records accurate and accessible.
- Risk & Compliance Integration: Embed ownership into incident workflows and post-incident reviews. Prepare documentation for audits and regulatory exams.
- Performance Metrics: Develop KPIs and dashboards to track incident response, ownership engagement, and control execution.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business, compliance, and technology teams to ensure consistent governance and resolve access issues.
- Third-Party Oversight: Ensure external application ownership aligns with vendor risk and incident protocols.
- 7+ years of experience in product management, business application oversight, governance, or incident response-preferably within financial services.
- Strong understanding of application lifecycle management, access governance, and regulatory expectations (e.g., OCC, FFIEC, SOX).
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive governance models across business and technology.
- Experience supporting internal audits and working across departments to drive governance outcomes.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a focus on business impact and stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with governance tools, application inventory systems, and risk management platforms.
