ABOUT THE ROLE
As (Senior) Product Manager - Payment Processes, you will take ownership of the features and systems that power how money flows into, out of, and within the Pliant platform. Your scope spans both customer-facing payment functionality and the internal infrastructure and logic that ensures all transactions are executed reliably, compliantly, and efficiently.
This includes:
- Customer-initiated payments like account top-ups, credit repayments, withdrawals, and international bank transfers to third parties
- The internal logic behind issuer settlement, SPV credit line drawdowns and repayments, and automated fund routing
- Coordination of real-time and scheduled processes across multiple markets, legal entities, and regulatory models
You'll work closely with Engineering, Credit, Finance, Payment Operations, and the Transaction Monitoring team to ensure both operational excellence and a smooth customer experience.
This role sits within the Payments group of Pliant's tech organization and reports to the Head of Product - Payments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own the roadmap and delivery of Pliant's payment processing systems, including both customer-facing flows and internal payments infrastructure
- Design and deliver customer-facing payment features such as credit repayments, top-ups via wire or direct debit, withdrawals, and cross-border transfers
- Implement and maintain flexible repayment logic, including support for recurring payments, ad-hoc repayments, reversals, and retries
- Drive automation and scalability across internal funds flow processes, including settlements with card networks (Visa, Mastercard) and refinancing partners
- Ensure that payments systems accommodate multi-currency, multi-entity, and multi-regulatory structures across markets
- Define and monitor KPIs such as payment execution success rate, reconciliation accuracy, and system availability
- Collaborate with Payment Operations to ensure high operational accuracy and efficient exception handling
- Coordinate with the Transaction Monitoring team to ensure all payment flows integrate appropriately with fraud detection and compliance checks
- Write detailed, actionable product requirements and collaborate closely with backend engineering teams
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5+ years of product management or other relevant experience, ideally in B2B fintech, payments, banking, or financial infrastructure
- Deep understanding of payment workflows, fund movement mechanics, and financial reconciliation
- Experience working with credit products, settlement systems, or internal liquidity management
- Strong technical fluency; capable of working closely with engineers on systems thinking, event-driven architectures, and APIs
- Experience collaborating with payment operations, compliance, finance, and risk teams
- Structured problem-solver with a hands-on, pragmatic approach
- Fluent in English; other European languages are a plus
WHAT WE OFFER
- High-impact role at the core of Pliant's financial engine, combining product innovation and infrastructure reliability
- The opportunity to own both customer experiences and mission-critical backend processes across 25+ markets
- Close collaboration with top-tier engineers and domain experts
- Flat hierarchies, fast decision-making, and a highly international team
- Competitive compensation package
- Flexible work setup (remote, hybrid, or in one of our European offices)
- Perks including a monthly mobility allowance, Wellhub membership, and a company card with a lunch/coffee budget
At Pliant, we believe diversity and inclusion are essential to building not only an innovative product but also an exceptional experience for both our customers and our team. This commitment begins with our hiring process-we welcome individuals of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, religions, national origins, gender identities or expressions, sexual orientations, ages, marital statuses, and abilities. If you require accommodations or accessibility support during the interview process, please let us know in your application so we can make sure your experience is seamless.
