- Recreation, Youth and Marketing Coordinator
Description
Under the supervision of the Leisure Services Director this employee will provide administrative leadership to customers and staff. They will assist in planning, developing, promoting, implementing and overseeing recreation programs and activities designed to meet the needs of the community, oversee marketing literature & campaigns for the department, as well as assist with various projects/assignments related to Township Parks and activities. Evening and weekend hours are required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, promotes and supervises a variety of community services, recreational programs and events. Duties include room use, facility set up & clean up, instructor contracts, fees, promotion, attendance, registration and evaluation.
- Plans, develops and promotes exhibits, shows, displays, festivals, concerts and other special events; works cooperatively with staff, volunteer organizations, other departments, outside agencies and boards to ensure event success.
- Plans, implements, promotes and supervises youth and staffing within a variety of after school and summer youth programs/camps. Including designing lesson plans, activities and special events. Coordinates facility needs, communication with parent/guardians, materials and set up/tear down necessary to carry out youth programs.
- Assists in the registration and administrative duties within the Leisure Services Office.
- Participates in the development of standards, policies and procedures; makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies and procedures.
- Participates in bi-monthly parks commission meetings in order to update on current programming and/or events as requested by supervisor.
- Actively seeks new programming for the community and establishes schedules and methods for providing recreation services.
- Participates in the selection of seasonal recreation staff, provides and coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Provides input into the development of the budget, submits budget recommendations and maintains budgets for programs that are under the employee’s supervision.
- Prepares periodic reports; maintains files and records.
- Oversees, maintains and designs electronic promotion of programs and events through print and social media, including but not limited to, Facebook, etc.
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the recreation field; incorporates new developments as appropriate into programs.
- Serves as staff liaison on various Township Leisure Services or community related committees and subcommittees as assigned by superior.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIROMENT:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment and at indoor and outdoor recreation facilities. Work includes travel to different locations and employee may be exposed to inclement weather conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery and uneven surfaces and may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends. This job will require splitting time at our Senior/Community Center as well as our Recreation and Wellness Center.
Physically, functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and recreational facility setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of computer keyboard; to operate cleaning equipment and machines; to travel to other recreation sites; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Requirements
Experience:
Minimum of (3) years of increasing responsibility in community service or recreational program administration experience.
Must possess a working knowledge of common recreational and social needs of various groups of people.
Experience using or developing office procedures, methods and equipment including computers and applicable software applications, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, BSA, CivicPlus, and Promotional advertising software.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATES:
Possession of an appropriate, valid drivers license; chauffeurs licensed preferred.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid C.P.R/AED Certificate and Basic First Aid.
