Position Summary:
PCOM South Georgia is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Public Relations & Social Media Manager to shape the story of our vibrant campus and student life. As the heartbeat of our communication efforts on the Moultrie campus, you'll serve as a trusted voice to key stakeholders and the Marketing and Communications team, playing a pivotal role in elevating our presence.
In this dynamic and dual position, you will lead the creation and execution of engaging content for our social media platforms, acting as the digital voice of the Moultrie campus. You will craft compelling visual stories aligned with our institutional goals, supporting enrollment and showcasing the unique student experience. Youll get to manage content, shape our digital community and review analytics with tools like Sprout Socials to maximize impact. Collaboration is key and youll work with students and faculty on campaigns and keystone events to highlight our communitys achievements and a day in the life at PCOM South Georgia.
But thats not all.
Youll also be carrying the torch for PCOM South Georgias PR efforts and youll serve as an energetic advocate for our story and mission. Youll proactively seek out and seize media opportunities to showcase our work through media outreach, interviews, and feature stories. As the primary media contact for the campus, youll represent PCOM South Georgia with professionalism - handling reporter inquiries, coordinating interviews with key stakeholders, and preparing our leaders with tailored backgrounders and clear messaging to ensure every interaction leaves a positive impression.
Your success will inspire and energize our PR and social media team, and you will be led by creative, strategic and mission-oriented thinkers who will help guide the way to shared success.

The position offers a flexible work schedule: two days in the office IRL and three days remote.
ESSENTIAL SUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
PR:
\t• Develops and manages creative PR strategies and tactical programs to achieve College objectives and fulfill strategic plans as outlined by administration.
\t• Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with local and regional media to both pitch stories and to be a resource for them when experts are needed.
\t• Establishes new relationships with new media contacts.
\t• Writes and places press releases and media advisories to promote the osteopathic medicine doctoral program and the biomedical sciences masters program, along with developing programs, in addition to other PCOM programs, departments, research, and the accomplishments of faculty, staff and students.
\t• Engages in social listening and serves as the point person for crisis communications at PCOM South Georgia, and is available 24/7 to respond to reporter inquiries, both crisis responses and expert requests.
\t• Works closely with campus leadership, including the dean, the chief of campus operations, and program heads of various departments, counseling and advising them on public relations practices and strategies.
\t• Prepares PCOM South Georgia employees to respond to media requests through the development of backgrounders, key messaging, talking points and participation in media training sessions.
\t• Serves as a spokesperson for the College, as necessary.
\t• Develops and writes regular news stories and sources photos for the College website and media pitches.
\t• Works with the PR team to contribute to Link, Digest, College-wide infographics, podcasts, etc., which represent the PCOM South Georgia campus.
\t• Utilizes an earned media contact management system and newswires to place and track PR efforts.
Social:
\t• Manages, monitors, and creates engaging, optimized content for PCOM South Georgias social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn) and contributes to PCOMs cross-campus TikTok and YouTube accounts.
\t• Serves as the campus social media voice to ensure consistent, on-brand messaging.
\t• Collaborates on cross-campus campaigns and supports key events and enrollment goals.
\t• Produces visual assets using Adobe Creative Suite and/or in-app features; social media video experience is a must
\t• Stays up to date on platform trends, features, and best practices.
\t• Supervises and manages the Social Media Assistant Work-Study position at PCOM South Georgia, guiding the students daily tasks and approving suggested content
\t• Works to build and maintain the reputation of the Office of Marketing and Communications as a valuable resource for all College departments.
\t• Hires and manages outside resources as necessary, i.e. media training, freelance support, photographer, videographer, etc.
\t• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
\t• Bachelors Degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
\t• No Board Certification or Board Eligibility is required. Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) certification is desired.
Experience
\t• Minimum of five years in public relations or communications; education or healthcare setting preferred.
\t• Experience with managing social media for a brand.
\t• Basic photography and videography experience needed, basic media editing skills required.
\t• Extensive writing experience required.
Required Skills
\t• The Public Relations/Social Media Manager must be able to work evenings and/or weekends and to travel overnight as required on occasion. Must be available to respond to crises and issues as they arise. This position is hybrid.
\t• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent computer skills with proficiency in Apple operating systems; proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Business softwares; proficient in the use and understanding of various popular social media channels; familiar photo/video content creation and editing.
\t• Occasionally lifts and sets up supplies and equipment, or stands/walks for extended periods of time.
Starting Salary: $60,000
