These services include internet services such as travel, digital content, and communications; FinTech (financial) services such as credit cards, banking, securities, insurance, and electronic money; and even professional sports.
The Business Support Development Department (BSD) plays a crucial role in providing system support for various operations between users, clients, and Rakuten businesses. Our department provides diverse services across three main areas: DATA, Business Support/Accounting, and CRM. We strive to ensure the highest quality standards in system delivery and support while pursuing business process optimization and efficiency. Our team sets goals, monitors continuously, and evaluates for the quality at services in BSD. And deliver quality that exceeds user expectations through talent development and implementing improvement measures as needed.

Why We Hire
Our team is responsible for developing and managing internal business support systems that power the back-office operations of our rapidly growing e-commerce services. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager (Senior Level) to strategically own, define, and evolve one or more critical products within our portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of complex business processes, the ability to define compelling product visions, and to deliver impactful solutions that drive operational efficiency.
Position Details
Product Strategy
- Define and articulate a clear product strategy for your assigned products, aligning with business strategy.
- Develop and maintain a product roadmap, clearly communicating priorities, key milestones, and expected business outcomes.
Business & Requirements Analysis
- Act as a subject matter expert for the internal business processes supported by your products, understanding nuances and interdependencies.
- Proactively engage with various business stakeholders to deeply understand their challenges, pain points, and strategic needs. Translate complex business requirements into clear system requirements and user stories.
Solution Proposal
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and other technical teams to design optimal and user-friendly solutions that meet business objectives.
Stakeholder Communication
- Build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with both business and technical leadership.
- Coordinate and facilitate effective communication across diverse business groups, engineering teams, and senior management.
Performance Monitoring
- KPIs for your products and establish mechanisms to track and report on their performance.
Work Environment
Team Size: 3-5 members (All PDM)
Mandatory Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management or a similar role.
- Exceptional skills in partnering with diverse business representatives to identify complex needs, define, and document detailed requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in product planning, roadmap development, and project management methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus among various stakeholders.
- Strong collaborative instincts and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset, demonstrating initiative beyond direct commands.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills (Business level proficiency in Japanese and English is required).
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in a large-scale e-commerce or technology company.
- Demonstrated experience in business process analysis, re-engineering, and change management.
- Proficiency in documenting and reporting complex information to executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor management related to product development.
- Experience in mentoring junior product managers or leading small cross-functional teams (3-5 members).
- Ability to translate complex business functions and user needs into clear, unambiguous technical specifications for engineering teams.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools and A/B testing methodologies.
