OVERVIEWCook County Office of the President is seeking an experienced Digital Marketing Specialist to help shape media and social media strategies that amplify the County's initiatives and connect with the public. You'll create compelling content, manage posts across multiple platforms, and monitor engagement to refine our approach using analytics. Collaboration is key. You'll work with departments and stakeholders to ensure timely, impactful messaging that reflects important news and developments. LOCATION
Located in the Loop District of downtown Chicago, one of the most formidable business districts in the world, the area has an astounding number of cultural foundations, stunning parks such as Millennial Park and Maggie Daley Park, steps away from the Chicago Riverwalk, award-winning restaurants, and plenty of shopping! In addition, Chicago is serviced by multiple bus and train lines for public transportation from the suburbs to the city, taxis are plentiful, public parking garages for motorists, and bicycle share rentals and local bike lanes for bicyclists.
Job Summary
Assists in the development of media strategy and support the implementation of the social media strategy for each platform. Generates written content, manage posts, and monitors engagement across all channels. Works collaboratively with other bureaus/departments to publish digital content. Uses analytics from each platform to adapt and refine strategy over time. Collaborates with key stakeholders, staff, and departments to be cognizant of important bureau/department news, developments, and initiatives.
This position is in the Office of the Cook County Board President. As or such, this position involves policymaking or implementation related to the administration's political and policy views, and/or requires a high-level of confidentiality such that political affiliation is an appropriate consideration for the effective performance of the job.
Typical Job Duties
- Oversees, drafts content, and manages multiple social media accounts.
- Supports the design and implementation of social media strategy through research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.
- Tracks, analyzes, and evaluates key social media data metrics and utilize such information to identify future social media campaign improvements.
- Supports the development and implementation of public relations and marketing campaigns, educational programs, and other initiatives designed to inform, educate, and engage the public.
- Creates a variety of communications materials for use in social media, traditional media, digital, print, and other channels.
- Communicates with team members to understand and highlight projects happening throughout the bureau/department.
- Manages digital assets and provide resources and templates to maintain brand consistency.
- Monitor social media channels on each platform and address public inquiries as they arise.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher and
- Two (2) years of communications, marketing, public relations or directly related experience or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four (4) years of communications, marketing or public relations experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to provide moderate-level insight, advice and expertise to other professionals, management, and external contacts in an assigned functional area.
- Ability to operate as a team player and communicate specialized knowledge team members, managers, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of moderately complex principles and practices for a specialized area of focus.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, work within tight deadlines, prioritize work as necessary and handle sensitive matters.
- Ability to speak before groups of all levels on a variety of subject matters relating to social media topics.
- Knowledge of various social media platforms and strategy.
- Skilled in strategic communication, writing, communicating complex information in a concise and digestible format.
- Ability to adapt changes in processes and remain flexible and open to new ideas as social media platforms evolve.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Pursuant to the Shakman Consent Decree, Supplemental Relief Order and the Cook County Personnel Rules, this position is exempt from the County's career service rules, is at-will and political reasons or factors may be considered when taking any employment action. As an employee in a Shakman Exempt Position, if you do not currently live in Cook County, you will have six (6) months from date of hire to establish actual residency within Cook County.
