The Managing Director of Marketing provides leadership to ensure integration, efficacy, and efficiency in marketing activities for the McCormick School of Engineering. Working with the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Marketing, the Director of Strategic Communications, and other members of the McCormick School leadership, the position sets proactive marketing plans, manages execution, and tracks KPIs to report on success and efficiency of ongoing efforts. The managing director leads a small team of professionals to oversee marketing strategy, digital initiatives, and event management.
Defines and implements schoolwide integrated marketing strategies to positively move KPIs and improve the overall marketing effectiveness for McCormick; works with internal and external partners to develop successful implementation plans.
Works with McCormick departments and programs to build plans for targeted initiatives and needs, sourcing external help as needed.
Oversees external agency partnerships and sources new vendor relationships as needed.
Coordinates with central University offices, particularly Global Marketing Communications, to ensure that school and University marketing strategies are aligned.
Project and Resource Management
Manages staff and resource allocation for marketing projects, ensuring that deadlines are set and met
In collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Strategic Communications, manages preparation of the annual operating budget, tracks actual to plan throughout the year, and projects future needs and resources.
Measurement and Reporting
Leads the collection and analysis of marketing data and KPIs to ensure that strategies have maximum impact.
Develops reports for the senior leadership of the school and NU.
Implements best-in-class measurement strategies to ensure efficient, effective marketing campaigns.
Supervision and Management
Supervises digital communications, marketing strategy, and event staff in the marketing department including recruitment, performance management and training.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
Minimum of 7-10 years experience, including demonstrated experience managing teams.

Experience in marketing agency balancing multiple clients and projects.
Experience or familiarity with higher education environment.
Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation systems, including Salesforce and Pardot.
